Elder Michael Calhoun Our Life can be summed up this way – the times when we do things our way, and the times when we do things God’s way because He is in control. We can only do things God’s way after we have been saved. We cannot see Him, but we can know that He is real. The light of Jesus that is in our heart lets us know that He is real. God will save in spite of anything wrong or sinful in the life of a person. No one can tell you that you are saved – only Jesus can do that, and you will know about it when He saves you. Works cannot save. Repetitious prayers cannot save. Baptism cannot save. When we are walking in darkness it means that we are NOT walking in the light … and we need to be reconciled to Him. ONLY Jesus can save from sin and place us into the light … into fellowship with Him. He is the Light of this world. God is holy and just. His laws are perfect. Jesus established the Church when He walked among men, and that Church still exists today. It is made up of others who have been born again, and He leads His Church. God is Light. God is Holy. God is all-knowing, wise, and the author of Truth and the source of Wisdom. Salvation is a relationship, a possession and NOT a mere profession. When we are saved we are “called out of darkness into His marvelous light.”
