Why Simeon? Because he was a just man, a righteous man, a SAVED man. A true believer. He walked, worshiped and waited on The Lord, God. He lived with an expectation of “The Promise” – Jesus. True FAITH is trusting God – even in the darkness of life. Just as Simeon anxiously anticipated the incarnation of Christ, so ought we to be anxiously watching His return. Today, we have the Holy Spirit of God and we are to lean upon Him, for it is the Holy Spirit Who leads the lost to salvation. And, only foolish men believe that they can “work” their own salvation with God … it takes the Holy Spirit! The Holy Spirit has been present convicting the lost of their need of a Saviour ever since the days of the “fall” of Adam and Eve in the Garden. Jesus IS Salvation, and Salvation is found in “none other.” The Father, Son and Holy Spirit determined and set the “Plan of Salvation” in place – even before the beginning of time. Jesus’ death was fore-known/fore-ordained, and it was to be effective for ALL PEOPLE over all ages of time.
