Pastor Tim’s Lesson is from John 8:31 Spiritually we are slaves of Satan until we have been released from the bonds of slavery by being “Born Again” as described in John 3 and John 8. Jesus paid for our sins on the Cross. Once saved and set free from sin we move from being slaves to being “sons” and ‘daughters”. Only the can we live a sanctified life and grow in freedom and liberty. Being “Born Again” means that our fleshly life has been sacrificed and is made clean, only then able serve God “acceptably”. A sanctified life is free to grow and live on a “higher plain” where God’s promises prevail in our lives. We have liberty. We can build our lives on a solid foundation. God and His promises are REAL, not abstract. Our freedom in Jesus is a progressive reality, and we will never be “lost” again. NEVER. We may sin, but we are no longer seen as “sinners” … slaves to sin. We believe. We continue. We know. We are liberated after being saved “by grace … through faith.” The “Spiritual warfare with sin and Satan has already been won by Christ for us – on the Cross. Freedom means no guilt and no shame,. We are free to come to the throne of God. We are able then to live “above” the temptations of this world. We can glorify God in whatsoever trials we face. In Christ we are freed from the presence of sin, the power of sin, and the penalty of sin.
