Elder Michael Calhoun “The Safety of the Godly” Brother Calhoun began by reminding us of the evidence of God’s saving power and that the Lord is as “mighty to save” as He has ever been. Our trust must never be in the strength of men, but only in the power of God. We are saved “in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye” and “by grace through faith.” Jesus does not play favorites and He will turn away no one who comes to Him by faith. Brother Calhoun then read from Psalm 121 and I Timothy. God is our Keeper and will keep and preserve His children. There is a Spiritual warfare and battle going on in our lives every day. God Is your Shield - but NOT if you are lost. Satan is powerful and persuasive and goes about as a “roaring lion ... seeking \whom he may devour". Satan is REAL, and to be feared. He is subtle and the “great deceiver” of mankind, and we should realize that we are ALL vulnerable … but, God will protect us when we have been saved. God “keeps” us. We are safe in Him. We are on “solid ground”, but sinners are in a “slippery” place. Even when we have been saved, we must still realize that we need His help in order to be safe in this evil, sinful, and perverse world. God never sleeps. God never gets caught off-guard. God protects His Church and His children. God speaks truthfully and plainly, but Satan is a liar and a deceiver, and is the “author of confusion.” God is our protector. God is our Keeper. God is our Refuge. God is our preserver. God is our “Good Shepherd”. He is concerned about our safety. He is the Good shepherd and we are His “lost sheep”, and He watches over us at all times. He will save you and protect you through all perils just as He saved the Apostle Paul and watched over him for the remainder of his days.
